The top three reasons business owners feel dissatisfied and how to resolve this

As a business mentor and owner of the UK’s entrepreneurial accountancy firm E.H. Taylors LLP, I collaborate with thousands of unique and inspiring organisations. However, what never fails to surprise me, when meeting with business owners is, how they are almost always dissatisfied with their businesses.

As career-driven individuals, could this dissatisfaction stem from a desire to achieve success, or is it down to a lack of control and ever-increasing confusion?

The top three reasons for dissatisfaction amongst business owners

Having considered all the reasons business owners are feeling dissatisfied with this organisation, below are the three most common complaints I hear.

  1. My business was meant to transform my life and set me free when, in reality, I feel as if I am a slave to my company.
  2. Now that I run my own business, I work long hours for a small return that does not reflect the amount of effort or risks I make.
  3. Despite the considerable risks I have taken as a business owner, I find there are little to no tax breaks that reward me for my entrepreneurial efforts.

The number one cause of business dissatisfaction

There are several reasons that can leave business owners experiencing these common concerns, but in many cases, the overarching reason is due to lack of control which results in a state of confusion.

Having control over your business is fundamental for making critical decisions that will impact your business and give you the confidence to break down barriers and achieve success.

If this resonates with you and a state of confusion has left you with money concerns, you may well feel nervous about making essential business decisions.
